Statewide Independent Wholesalers (SIW) is a joint venture between Woolworths and Tasmanian Independent Retailers operating a state-of-the-art warehouse and distribution centre at Western Junction, just 10 mins from Launceston.

For over 40 years we have supplied grocery products to all Woolworths, IGA’s and other independent supermarkets across the state, as well as supplying liquor to all Dan Murphy’s and BWS outlets.

We operate as an independent organisation with a mission to deliver the goods by providing Service, Innovation and Wellbeing to our retail partners and people, while our vision is to remain Tasmania’s leading wholesaler of fast moving consumer goods.

Warehouse Storeperson

SIW are currently seeking expressions of interest to fill Storeperson roles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accurately picking, packing, and wrapping cartons for customer orders onto pallets

  • Driving battery powered pallet machines

  • Undertaking hi-rise order selection

  • Using headset-based voice activated technology

  • Applying safe lifting and manual handling techniques

  • Working in different environments i.e. Freezer, Chiller, Ambient and Produce

  • Candidates may also be given the opportunity to upskill via internal or external training whilst employed at SIW.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays

  • A positive attitude and commitment to working safely

  • An ability to work individually and as part of a team

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good level of fitness with a physical capacity to lift weights up to 22 kilograms repetitively

  • Strong work ethic including reliability and punctuality

  • The ability to be trained in high-risk work functions (i.e., Forklift operations, and picking/packing at height) as required

  • Forklift and/or stock picker forklift truck licences may be advantageous
